World Prematurity Day

2011m. Lapkričio 17d.

Every year, an estimated 13 million babies are born too soon and too small. More than a million of these tiny babies do not survive.
November 17 is World Prematurity Day. This year, help spread the energy and message around the world.
Did you or someone close to you have a baby who was born too soon, too small, unable to breathe or nurse on his own? If so, you know how scary premature birth is.
While medical advances give many babies a chance of survival, for others it remains a life-or-death condition. Babies who survive their early birth can face serious health challenges and risk lifelong disabilities.
Premature birth is a big problem in the World. In other parts of the world, where hospitals and health providers may be ill-equipped to care for preemies, or the nearest hospital is days away, the problem is even more serious.
Help us raise awareness of this crisis:
1. On November 17, tell the story of a baby you love.
2. Find out about care for premature babies in your area and what more needs to be done.
We need to fight ― because babies shouldn’t have to.
